Brahma Singh, born December 15, 1941, and died July 9, 2023, was an Indian horticultural scientist known for expertise in protected cultivation and for developing vegetable and crop cultivation in the high-altitude Himalayan region around Leh, work that earned him recognition as the person who greened Leh. He spent his career from 1974 to 2001 with India's Defence Research and Development Organisation, holding several research laboratory directorships, is credited with identifying and popularizing the seabuckthorn and Indian mulberry crops, and received the Padma Shri in 2014.
