Peter Martin Biggs (13 August 1926 to 27 December 2021) was a British scientist who specialized in avian infectious disease, directing the Houghton Poultry Research Station from 1973 and the Institute of Animal Health at Compton after 1992, after earlier work at the Royal Veterinary College in London and the University of Bristol. He is known particularly for his research on Marek's disease in poultry and for the development of a vaccine against the virus that causes it, and he recognized that what had been treated as one disease, avian leukosis, was in fact two distinct diseases, Marek's disease and lymphoid leukosis. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1976 and received the Wolf Prize in Agriculture in 1989.
