Fuller W. Bazer, born in 1938, is an American animal scientist and Distinguished Professor at Texas A&M University, where he holds the O.D. Butler Chair in Animal Science. His research on the biological signaling between an embryo and its mother during pregnancy identified interferon-tau and other pregnancy-associated proteins that let the two systems communicate to maintain pregnancy, and he also identified uteroferrin, a growth factor with possible therapeutic uses beyond agriculture, work with implications for both livestock production and human reproductive health.
