Vandana Shiva, born in 1952, is an Indian scholar and environmental activist who has become one of the most prominent international critics of industrial and genetically modified agriculture. Based in Delhi, she has written more than twenty books arguing for food sovereignty, seed rights and ecological farming, work that has earned her the informal title Gandhi of grain among supporters of the anti-GMO movement. She is a founding board member of the International Forum on Globalization and a leading voice in the broader anti-globalization movement.
