David Nabarro

Sir David Nunes Nabarro, born August 26, 1949, in London, was a British physician and international civil servant who spent his career coordinating United Nations and World Health Organization responses to global health and food crises, and who died July 25, 2025. He headed the UN's High-Level Task Force on Global Food Security from 2009 to 2014, served as Special Representative on food security and nutrition, and coordinated the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, alongside earlier work leading the UN's response to avian influenza from 2005 and later its Ebola response from 2014 to 2015 and its cholera response in Haiti. He was awarded the World Food Prize in 2018, was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire and Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George, and from 2018 held a professorship at Imperial College London's Institute of Global Health Innovation.
