Apple

Fruits

The apple is the round, edible fruit of the apple tree, most commonly the domestic apple, the most widely grown species in the genus Malus and cultivated worldwide. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, still grows, and apples spread across Eurasia for thousands of years before reaching North America with European colonists. More than 7,500 cultivars exist today, bred for eating raw, cooking and juice or cider production.
