The Pandharpuri is a breed of water buffalo native to the dry regions of Solapur, Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli in India, named for the town of Pandharpur in Solapur district. It is best known for its horns, which run 60 to 100 centimetres long, sometimes twisted, and are the longest of any domestic buffalo breed, occasionally reaching all the way to the animal's rear feet. Black-coated females average around 416 kilograms and 130 centimetres tall, and the breed is raised chiefly for milk, with a 350-day lactation, a 465-day calving interval and an average yield of about 1,400 kilograms per 305 days, producing milk that is notably rich in protein and calcium but lower in fat.
