Jeffery Lee Dangl is an American biologist, born in 1957, who is the John N. Couch Professor of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Working with Jonathan D. G. Jones, he developed the zigzag model explaining how plant disease resistance genes and pathogen effector proteins coevolve, and his broader research on the molecular basis of plant-pathogen interactions and the plant innate immune response has made him a leading figure in the field of plant-microbe interactions.
