Idupuganti Venkata Subba Rao, born December 20, 1934, and died August 14, 2010, was an Indian agricultural scientist who earned his PhD from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi and went on to serve as Director of Research and, for two terms, Vice-Chancellor of Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, retiring in 2003. He served as General President of the 93rd Indian Science Congress in 2006, the first time an agricultural university organized the event, and his honors included the Padmashri in 2002 and the Dr. Norman E. Borlaug Award in 2004.
