Roscoe Wilfred Thatcher was an American agriculturist raised on a farm in Chatham Center, Ohio, who studied at the University of Nebraska before entering agricultural education and research. He served as head of the Department of Agriculture at Washington State College and as director of the Agriculture Experiment Station at Cornell University, and he was appointed to the Agriculture Commission by President Coolidge.
