Extensive Agriculture

Extensive agriculture is a farming approach that uses a comparatively large area of land with a comparatively low level of labor, capital or other input per unit of that area, relying instead on the land's own natural fertility and, often, extensive grazing rather than continuous cultivation. It is the approach typical of low-population-density regions with abundant land relative to labor and capital, and it stands opposite intensive agriculture's strategy of maximizing output from a smaller area.
